About the Conference:

The International Conference on Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) and Sustainable Development aims to explore how traditional wisdom can contribute to building a sustainable society in line with India’s Vision 2047. The conference will provide a platform for researchers, educators, policymakers, and Indigenous leaders to share insights, best practices, and innovative strategies in environmental conservation, cultural preservation, and social development. Here, we will also focus on the cultivation of indigenous and non-indigenous crops and medicinal plants around us. This conference highlights the importance of various scientific and technological institutes, NGOs, including DST, ICSSR, and UCOST for promoting sustainable development.

 

Objectives and Themes:

1. To explore innovative applications of traditional knowledge for social development.

2. To promote cultural preservation (Lokparv, Lokgeet, Rituals, films, foods, and culture) alongside environmental stewardship.

3. To facilitate knowledge exchange between Indigenous communities, scholars, and policymakers.

4. Integrating knowledge of indigenous and non-indigenous plants of the Himalayan region in the food and medicinal field.

4. Enhance the knowledge of eco-friendly regional pest control methods used in the cultivation of indigenous and non-indigenous crops          and plants.

5. Discussion of nutritional values of some bioactive compounds, such as amino acids, flavonoids, and polyphenols around high-altitude          flora of Uttarakhand.

6. Role of scientific and technological institutes and NGOs with DST, ICSSR and UCOST to promote sustainable development.
